You know what I always say? Never leave a lake time without visiting a restaurant that has a nautical term in its name. That’s just how I was raised. 310 Main Ave

There are many reasons to road trip to one of Iowa’s premiere vacation destinations. Clear Lake showed Team Goodvin an incredible weekend with one of our most memorable stops being at the Starboard Market with its giant sandwich menu, homemade salads, hot soups, and irresistible baked goods. See for yourself!

Fresh, fresh, fresh. Homemade, homemade, homemade. Get used to hearing those words when you’re at the Starboard Market and, more importantly, you’ll taste it in everything here. We ordered a spicy enchilada soup with a trifecta of salads. A broccoli salad with bacon, fresh red onions, and raisins. A corn bread salad unique to the Starboard. And quite possibly one of the greatest potato salads know to man. Let’s not forget the carefully handmade sandwiches such as the #3-The Dude: Turkey breast, pepperjack cheese, bacon, lettuce, red onion, and ranch dressing on kaiser roll. #6-The Barrel Back: Baked ham, turkey breast and cheddar cheese. #11-The Regatta: Smoked turkey breast, Havarti cheese, mango chutney, sprouts and lettuce on toasted multi-grain bread. All wonderful sandwiches but not what we picked to represent the Starboard Market in our Best Between Bread search here on The Iowa Gallivant.

The #5-Captain Reuben! Corned beef pastrami with Swiss cheese, kraut, 1000 Island dressing on terrific rye bread. This is a classic sandwich made only the way the Starboard Market can. The meat to cheese to kraut to dressing ratios are perfectly done here. If you’re a Reuben enthusiast than make your way to Clear Lake and drift into the Starboard Market and order a sandwich that may be a champion in December!
