It’s time for a reminder of just how delicious our journey to Lyon County was, earlier this year, and it was just most recent of several tasty moments we’ve had up here. The annual Burger Battle features eateries all over the county with each burger just as unique as you can get with every stop. This was the beefy skills served up in far NW-Iowa and it’s making me wonder what 2027 will look like….
If you love it cheesy and spicy, then the Last Call Saloon has you covered. Even the bagel bun had cheddar and jalapenos inside! They ended up with the most votes and took home the 2026 Lyon County Burger Battle Championship!
Now, this eating farm to table! The Triple View raises all their beef and pork just yards away from where you’re eating. That’s farm raised Iowa meat coming in fresh and juicy.
Even one of the local grocery stores got in on the Burger Battle action! If you crave and love taco pizzas, then the community foods’ Taco Burger hammers home all those flavors in every juicy bite.
One of the richest flavored burgers in the entire battle. The aioli was filled with green chiles and those roasted red pepper were working with that burger patty and sliced brisket.
If you say you’re a carnivore then you would gravitate this behemoth. That delicious all beef patty with crispy bacon and ham with pineapple, avocado, melted cheese and spicy jalapenos!
The Garage-Inwood, Iowa: Sweet Heat Mac Attack Burger
It was my first time having fried jalapenos on a burger and The Garage turned me into a fan of this concept. You bet, they go great with pepper jack mac and cheese with bacon and BBQ’y beef patty!
Mushroom lovers would absolutely go gaga for this burger. Local trumpet mushrooms on this hand pattied burger with garlic teriyaki and local sunflower microgreens. One of the juiciest burgers in the battle!
Sometimes you just want a big messy burger and The Sports Center made that craving come true. This was for all you burger lovers and jalapeno popper lovers because you got’em both in every bite!
The poutine craze hit it big in Lyon County at the Big Drop In! 2 Wagyu hamburger patty with rich gravy, fried Stensland cheese curds, bacon and crispy potatoes. That’s meat and potatoesHave you ever had a meal so big and said, “I wish I could go take a nap now…..” Lucky for me, and anyone who books a room at the Grand Falls Casino & Golf Resort, that old belly busting phrase can come true! Clean comfy room with a great view and a nice mattress to sprawl out on when you have those meat sweats.
Talk about beefy! Thick hamburger patty topped with shaved prime rib, their own house BBQ sauce, spicy jalapenos and crispy golden brown onions. That was a juicy mouthful!
Cowboy Candy is the secret weapon to this burger. Sweet and spicy mix of pickles, jalapenos and onions in a blueberry compote. American cheese and bacon in every bite. You could see why they were a past Burger Battle champion!
Dreamerz-Rock Rapids, Iowa: Lyon County Carnivore Burger
It’s all in the name! Local beef going into that hamburger patty, local pork for the bacon and pulled pork. I highly recommend any variety of their house made fries with your sandwiches at Dreamerz!
