The Community of Flags just might have one of the greatest sandwiches you need to get to. The Classic Deli is on historic HWY 6 which is one of our favorite roads for, lets call it road tripping. This route winds through countless small Iowa towns and one of them is Brooklyn with a must visit destination restaurant.

You know you’re in a great place for made-from-scratch food when you walk in and see a crew that pumps out freshly squeezed lemonade and jars their own mustard varieties. We hit The Classic Deli on a Saturday and we couldn’t have been more lucky. Not only did we manage to get through a plate of homemade biscuits and gravy but the special is what made our list for what could win The Iowa Gallivant sandwich championship in December!

You want this juicy house smoked brisket sandwich with homemade BBQ sauce that is quite possibly the best bite of beef you’re going to have all year? Well, you’ll need to plan to head to Brooklyn on the weekend because Saturday’s are the only day you’re getting one or several of these. And they WILL sell out! What will you road trip for? You can find many reasons to hop on old HWY 6 and tasty BBQ is always a good reason. Your weekend just got a big smoky reason to travel your gallivanting booty off!
