The Best Between Bread-Iowa’s Sandwich Masters: Locale 14, Vinton

It’s not everyday that you show up to a town you haven’t written about and end up with egg on your face. Well, it happened to The Iowa Gallivant and we couldn’t be happier about it. We’re looking for great sandwiches made by great Iowans in the great state of Iowa. Period. We hit up Ron-Da-Voo on a rainy evening and sunk our teeth into a Best Between Bread contender!

Friday night in Vinton, IA means that the locals are heading to the trusted local tap and getting a familiar friendly punch of cold beverages and good food. The Ron-Da-Voo crew was friendly and welcoming as we took our time combing through the menu. Leah has the southwestern chicken wrap and the familiar pizza burger (A Midwestern staple and if you have to ask, well you just don’t understand) was ordered by Gigi with plenty of baked beans and cottage cheese on the side. Not to mention one killer Shirley Temple with extra cherries. And can I we get an amen to that! But what made this article happen was the eggy madness between buttery toasted bread….

We have lift off on the Cobb Sandwich! So what’s inside this contender anyway? Take a BLT and add egg salad with sliced onions and you’re there! There’s a lot of sandwiches out there and some are known for how big they are and you get a picture on the wall if you eat it in a certain time. Some are exotic, some have about 90 ingredients and so on. But there is something that needs to be said about mastering the basics. Ron-Da-Voo’s Cobb Sandwich has the perfect ratio of eggs to mayo to bacon to veggies and all proudly on toasted white bread. And deliciousness ensued. We’ll see if the Cobb Sandwich gets crowned in December…..
