The Cedar Rapids area keeps producing more and more memorable adventures for The Iowa Gallivant and a few of them have been in the suburban town of Hiawatha. With the increased population comes the increased demand for great eateries and this city is getting some great ones. Our Best Between Bread search led us to Pita’z and quite possibly the best chicken sandwich we’ve had during this expedition. But let’s start out with a couple sides from their delicious menu. Pita’z has a great menu that has all your favorite Mediterranean selections like that incredible gyro to huge salads, hummus, falafel, shrimp, with American inspirations like cheeseburgers and Philly steak sandwiches to name a few. But here’s what locked down their spot on our list of contenders who could be bring home a sandwich trophy in December!
Lebanese culinary mastery meets the Midwest and I couldn’t be happier about it. Juicy chicken Shawarma with a rich garlic sauce, pickles, and fries. Yes, you heard that right. Fries! There are many people out there, like me, that love putting their hard earned fries on sandwiches. But sometimes you have to take from the side that comes with the sandwich hence depleting you potato inventory. Not at Pita’z! No way! They come right in this perfect pita sandwich and I’m telling you it’s HOT! You want a hot meal you got it at Pita’z. This was hard to handle at first but when I got a hold of it the Shawarma never had a chance! But Pita’z has a chance. Standby, Hiawatha….The search ends in just a few short months!
