Shueyville, IA: Johnson County
We headed to the Johnson County line in the pursuit of another local sandwich master. Lucky for us, Shuey’s Restaurant & Lounge was cranking them out with a crew that was cruising a busy dining room and showing the masses that they have what it takes to land a spot in The Iowa Gallivant‘s pursuit for the Best Between Bread. We’re going house-made here, folks….
Queso is a force to reckoned with and Shuey’s had a hot bowl of it ready to go. This rich and cheesy app was followed by a pulled bbq pork sammie and one of area’s tastiest burgers. Shuey’s calls in the Triple Treat! 8oz of juicy beef, bacon, and pork ground together and topped with melted Swiss, American and pepper jack cheese. Now that’s worth traveling for. But the sandwich that made it to our search is……

Ladies and gentleman let us introduce, Robert! Shuey’s beautifully homemade corned beef with jalapenos, sauerkraut, mayonnaise, and pepper jack cheese. Spicy, beefy, toasty and absolutely loaded with amazing flavor. You gotta love spicy to love this sandwich and we destroyed it! Let’s see if Shuey’s wins this sandwich search come December. I suggest you get down to Shueyville and taste this Best Between Bread contender for yourself!
