
Iowa’s county roads weave into some very interesting places. For folks who live in the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City areas, they lead you to one of Johnson County’s gems when it comes to great restaurants. Solon is a small town that’s getting quite a lot of publicity for its variety of establishments that travelers are heading to more and more. This includes El Sol and our newest contestant for Iowa’s best tacos!
El Sol was prepping for a busy dinner rush when we arrived. They offer daily specials that locals and travelers as getting familiar with more and more. The menu had many selections that ranged all over the culinary map. The kids opted for the shrimp tacos, JayJay smashed the Tacos Al Carbon!

Juicy charbroiled steak inside fresh corn tortillas and topped with ranchero sauce, diced onion, queso fresco, and fresh avocado. Served on the side was fresh Pico de Gallo and El Sol’s firey hot salsa. A must-have with these tacos that you’re now craving. C’mon! The Iowa roads are calling and Solon has some great tacos awaiting your arrival at El Sol. And bring some amigos. They’ll need to get in on this, too!
