The look on the faces when you tell them that you’re looking for the best Hometown Tacos in Iowa. And then the look as you tell them you’re crowning a champion in December. Azteca 3 wants this award! And they brought out a platter of their finest tacos to show that they’re worthy. The dining room was surrounded by authentic original paintings and colorful decor. The proud crew was eager to tell the story behind the art and artist that created the murals. Pictured below is the head chef, Heriberto, and Zulma, a daughter of the owner.
The lunch shift had a busy day as they cleared off an army of margarita glasses. This didn’t stop them from filling up our basket with warm tortillas chips and gloating about their favorite tacos on the menu. I like swagger. Goes great with hot queso dip.
Shrimp, chicken, carnitas, chorizo, carne asada. These tacos had a very short life as to be expected in any quality Mexican restaurant. All served on soft warm flour tortillas and absolute stuffed with meat, fresh chopped cilantro, and diced white onions. Spicy green salsa and fresh limes to go with them. They filled us up and left us still wanting more. What else do you want? We’ll see if you get the crown in December, Azteca 3!
