Tell me there’s a town square and I’ll tell you that I want to see it! We’ve had the pleasure of seeing many Iowa towns with this classic business district layout, and they all have their own uniqueness. Locally owned shops, boutiques, florists, bookstores, antiques, phenomenal restaurants, and more of Iowa’s treasures with every loop around the square. Clarinda is one of those towns we’re talking about and the fantastic J Bruner’s calls its historic square home. This restaurant is attracting the locals with more out-of-towers discovering its delicious menu selections with every passing year with juicy steaks ready to meet another happy table!
The owners are very proud of the atmosphere they’ve created here in Clarinda, and have done an incredible job with interior and its ambiance.One of the all-time greatest servings of onion rings I’ve ever received! Stacked like a crispy pyramid that’s fresh from the fryer and steaming hot!The salad course is served family style and loaded with some beautiful greens and thick-cut veggies. Pass the bowl around and get those plates full with a heaping salad the way you like it!You’ll be passing around the J Bruner’s made from scratch dressings that includes crispy chopped bacon. Amen to this memorable salad course!Let’s do a little bonus beef in Clarinda! J Bruner’s makes some truly wonderful Sloppy Joes and it’s Chef Max’s famous recipe! That’s right, folks. They can turn a classic sandwich like this into gourmet classic!Then came my cheesy, juicy, tender, and beefy entrée. J Bruner’s makes a lot of great dishes and their Kansas City Strip was the right choice for me! Topped with a generous amount of melted Bleu cheese that was bubbling over the top. We saw a lot of Page County and went all over Clarinda during our visit. Museums, rural drives, historic landmarks, and much more in this southwest Iowa community. A whole day of gallivanting will always create an appetite. J Bruner’s did a fantastic job of hosting all of us and I can’t wait to get another flavorful taste of Kansas City again!
