Camping at Iowa’s Highest Point!

*Over 1600 feet above Iowa is Hawkeye Point. One of the state’s most well known roadside attractions, but that’s not all you can experience here. I recommend enjoying it through the night and into the next morning! Our stay at Hawkeye Point Campground was complimentary. The views expressed in this blog post are of our own. Now, let’s Gallivant!

Come see where Iowa meets its “peak” just outside the City of Sibley, and setup camp when you’re here! 5463 130th Street 712-758-3709

Sibley, IA: Osceola County

America is peppered with countless roadside attractions that get travelers to stop during every second of the day. I can’t tell you how many we’ve stopped by through the years, but I can tell you with incredible accuracy how many I’ve visited like we did at the one in NW-Iowa near Sibley. I have never spent the night at the highest elevated point in any state until our most recent trip to Hawkeye Point. 1670 feet into the Iowa atmosphere and finding more of the state’s splendor above the rest of it!

This is how great the locals are in Osceola County! A camper ready for a family of Gallivanters at Hawkeye Point that was setup for us while we were in town!
Meet our neighbors at Hawkeye Point! These campsites can bring in some fun groups like this. They took advantage of the large fire pit and brought out an impressive grill full of even more impressive steaks. This Hawkeye Point fun loving party of locals was a phenomenal addition to our visit in Osceola County and the inaugural T-Bone Trail. That is the anthem of a great time in Northwest Iowa!
Just across the gravel road from the campground is Hawkeye Point itself. Find the mosaic marker and tell everyone you made it to Iowa’s highest point!
While you’re here, you can start planning your cross country road trip to the rest of America’s highest points!
There was another reason why I loved our time at Hawkeye Point. There was no one in Iowa that would be enjoying the sunset at a higher elevation than us. And what an amazing evening it was at Hawkeye Point.

Hotels, resorts, cabins, motels, guest houses, B&Bs, and then campsites like this one in Osceola County have showed up on The Iowa Gallivant through almost 8 years. Hawkeye Point Campground is just a short drive from Sibley where you’ll find restaurants, a grocery store, a brewery, a bakery, a movie theatre, and more if you’re looking for some entertainment and dining options while at Hawkeye Point. There’s going to be great times to camp all yearlong, and I urge you to grab a site at Hawkeye Point!
