*What you are about to see is just a mere sample of the all the unbelievable food we had in Fairfield and, when you’re on this kind of tour, you should have a reliable lodging partner. Our stay at the AmericInn of Fairfield was complimentary and the views expressed on this blog post are of our own. Now, let’s Gallivant!
Yes, all that happened, and the Southeast Iowa town of Fairfield let it happen. And we were very glad we experienced every morsel of it! By now, many of you have probably read Parts One and Two of our recent RAGBRAI scouting trip to the fabulous town of Fairfield and we thank you very much for that. Another giant thank you needs to go out to the entire staff of this town’s AmericInn! They supplied a terrific room that went with a terrific stay and you’ll see why.
We checked in, got an extra pillow or two, did the ole mosey around the lobby, and proceeded to relax like champions. That is not hard to do here, my friends. We had a friendly welcome from the front desk and the rest went down in Gallivant history as a part of our successful trip to Fairfield. Bellies full of some of the best food in the state and ready for landing in our room.
Now, that’s a great bed with the modern appliances we need in situations like this. Hand over the remote, get snugly and descend into R&R mode AmericInn style. Very clean room that you could tell was taken care of by a professional housekeeping staff. It felt cozy and comfortable the whole time and that doesn’t happen without great folks looking out after your stay.

You can stay active here at the AmericInn of Fairfield and have a little fun as well. Get to know the pool and workout room then have a cool-down session at their bar. That’s just how I roll when I’m getting some sweet cardio in on a weekend.
Let’s give it up for the complimentary breakfast making your morning a strong one. Plenty of hot selections like scrambled eggs and sausage. The toaster is ready for action and so is the cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt, cold juices and precious, oh so precious, coffee with an aroma that seems to open the elevator doors for you.
I’m a professional when it comes to kicking up my heels and the AmericInn of Fairfield seems to have folks like us in mind for these certain situations. Keep this wonderful hotel in mind when you’re traveling anywhere in the SE-Iowa region as it holds the premium middle ground between Fairfield, Ottumwa, Villages of Van Buren, Mount Pleasant and just a short ways from Burlington and Lee County. Thanks again, AmericInn and we look forward to checking in again!
