Rye Whiskey: Cedar Ridge Distillery-Swisher, IA
We couldn’t resist! This amazing Rye Whiskey was screaming to be used for dessert and we answered the call. Just a few simple ingredients and we made a delicious shake using a homegrown Iowa spirit. Sweetness of the Rye meets the richness of another Iowa favorite. Blue Bunny Ice Cream! Only a few of these Cedar Ridge Rye barrels were produced and the North Dodge Street Hy-Vee in Iowa City is were you can go to find it!
Prep Time: 5 minutes Yield: 2 large shakes
- 1 pint Blue Bunny vanilla bean ice cream
- 1 cup frozen mango chunks
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup Cedar Ridge Rye Whiskey
- Optional, a couple of tablespoons of milk
Put all ingredients in a blender and mix on high. Or if you have a blender like ours, set in to the smoothie setting. If you want your shake a little smoother, add a splash or two of milk and mix some more. I felt a little naughty making a shake on a smoothie setting. I think we know who’s in charge here. Blend until it has a beautiful velvet texture and pour into a glass. We placed a freshly sliced orange on the rim and shared with no one. I recommend flashing this recipe to your friends on your phone when they wondered why they didn’t get any. Tell them to get the North Dodge Street Hy-Vee in Iowa City while this Rye Whiskey lasts!
