*Our stay at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center was complimentary. The opinions expressed in this blog post are of our own. Now, let’s gallivant!

Sports! Sports! Sports! I had to get that out because this guy loves August and the beginning of college football season! Ames knows how to bring in the crowds all year long though, and that includes those precious Saturdays that pack Jack Trice Stadium. From move-in weekend in early August to graduation in the Spring and oodles of events this hosts year after year, Gateway Hotel & Conference Center often finds itself in the middle of it all. With the facilities and rooms they have, you’ll see why.

Cyclone and ISU are in full display at the Gateway and it’s not hard to get absorbed into the school spirit when you walk the halls. Not only are there legendary athletes featured on the murals, the Gateway makes sure that the guests are reminded that Iowa State University is responsible for some of history’s most important inventions, patents, advancements and research. You know what else is important? A great and relaxing room!
Everything a team like us needs are in the very comfortable and clean rooms of the Gateway Hotel. The flat screen TV, perfectly sized desk, spacious and comfy king sized bed showed us just how to properly relax here in Ames. How about two cushy chairs for making a little fort! It’s the little things when you’re gallivanting with a 10 year old.
Agriculture is what Iowa does best and the artwork you find at the Gateway shows just how central it is to the everyday life in Ames, ISU and all over Iowa. Right by the huge lobby are the famous sculptures that greet guest and visitors here with interpretive stories on the artist and why they’re considered one of the many treasures here.
Let’s be honest here. After spending a loooooong time in the Gateway’s swimming pool and then sweating it all out in the nearby sauna and modern exercise room, you want a cold one(s). The IowaStater Restaurant has a full bar with some of the best local brews from right here in Iowa.
Not only does The IowaStater have a great lunch and dinner menu, they also have a premium breakfast buffet. Here’s your chance to support all those Iowa pork producers by filling your plate with sausage patties, bacon, ham and cheese omelets made to order and sausage gravy on everything!
Soooooooooon, Cyclone fans. All those amazing new memories and another incredible action packed season is coming! Soooooooooon…….
