You’ve seen these signs all over America and one of the nicest Super 8’s is in far Western Iowa and has the decor to showcase the proud region they’re located in. 2835 Iowa Ave 712-423-2101

Onawa, IA: Monona County

We travel a lot and are always grateful when we find a comfortable and clean rooms with a kind and helpful staff. Our summer trip to Western Iowa on this weekend was hot outside! That’s when I realized how much I love a crisp AC. Super 8-Onawa had all that we needed and could have wanted for this gallivant as a secure home base for our travels.

Look at the smile on that young man’s face! Even the welcome signs have the proper amount of enthusiasm! We  checked in after driving 5 hours and there was one thing Papa Bear wanted to do first and it wasn’t hitting the road just after getting here.

The landing was smooth and the zzzzz’z expelled were many and I could nearly see my breath after I turned the AC to the beautiful slumber setting. That exact number is most likely different for everyone and mine would be suitable for Mt. Everest training. The flat screen TV played an important part in relaxing because I can’t fall asleep without the cartoon network on. And look at the view above the bed! I mean picture. I got’ya, didn’t I!

Early morning was just fine because we had plenty of hot coffee. Normally that’s the breakfast of champions for me but the Super 8-Onawa had much more to get us charged up for the day. Make it your self waffles, plenty of cereal, cold juices and toast popping up all morning.

We came to Onawa to scout out the town for our RAGBRAI article to see what would be awaiting the riders. The Main Street district had great restaurants, parks close by and great folks welcoming us at every turn. Next thing you know we ended up discovering the annual Lewis & Clark Festival at nearby Lewis & Clark State Park. They had quite a lot to choose from when it came to food, beverage, jewelry and gifts at the festival with all the themes you’d imagine during the early 1800’s. Like fry bed tacos! Imagine if the Corps of discovery had everything Onawa had like bridges, crab Rangoons, pizza and perfect hot water pressure and showers in a local Super 8. something tells me the expedition wouldn’t have gotten past Onawa and why would it!
