Iowa City, IA: Johnson County
The previous cold spell is still fresh on many Iowans minds. On this day the mercury hit 42 degrees and the locals were out in full force to soak it all up before the next front hits. Team Goodvin was in on the action too. Another few degrees higher and I would have had my Bermudas on. But, I wanted the kids to claim me if something were to happen.

At the point where Gilbert Street turns into Sand Road, you find one of the newest additions to Iowa City’s parks. In the summertime, Trueblood is busy with kayaks, canoes, paddle boasts, joggers, speed walkers and whatever else you outdoorsy types do around a lake, woods and trails. Today, it had it’s fair share of ice fishing opportunities and cyclists hitting the pavement.

There’s always a reason to get outside. And thanks to Terry Trueblood Rec Area, we have many more reasons to stay active during the winter. It’s where spandex, overalls, bicycles and gas powered ice augers meet in a beautiful mixture of Iowa wintry bliss. And who doesn’t enjoy one of those things?
