Hamburg, IA: Fremont County

A long time ago I set a goal to see all four corners of Iowa someday. First was Keokuk in the southeast, New Albin in northeast, Gitchie Manitou in the northwest, and then it was Fremont County in the southwest that catapulted this journey into its finale. And it would turn out be one of the most scenic Iowa drives I’ve ever taken to get there. You know what they say, folks…The corner pieces (of the state) are always the tastiest and that includes the delicious menu at Whiskey Springs!

The crew was geared up for a Hamburg Gallivant and they were great and friendly ambassadors of the Loess Hills. The time spent here would be as memorable as the scenic views in their own backyard.
One of the most tender Prime Ribs we had on the inaugural Western Iowa T-Bone Trail. The kitchen crew at Whiskey Springs use their own blend of spices and slow-cook these primes for hours and hours with incredible care. As you can see, they don’t skimp on the portions at all. This thick-cut Prime Rib came with a big cup of rich au jus, buttery scratch-made mashed potatoes, a warm and fluffy roll, and the gift of corn that we cherish here in Iowa. And look at that side of raw horseradish! Whoooooooo-we! Click on the video below and see the live action footage of this thick-cut and very tender-juicy Whiskey Springs Prime Rib!
I could do these Prime Rib videos everyday. Let’s make it happen again, Whiskey Springs!
The food is outstanding and so is the decor. Inside and outside of Whiskey Springs, making it one of the most unique restaurant settings in Iowa.
