Downtown Iowa City with a “Vue” at the Hilton Garden Inn

*Our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn was complimentary. The opinions in this blog post are of our own. Now, let’s Gallivant!

Iowa City
Skyrocketing into Downtown Iowa City’s urban and campus landscape is a premiere Iowa hotel experience. 328 South Clinton Street

Iowa City, IA: Johnson County

How many times have you requested a room with a view? Thanks to the new Hilton Garden Inn near the University of Iowa campus and overlooking exciting Downtown Iowa City, you get that spectacular view along with a spectacular Vue. Stay with me on this.

From our room we had a birds eye display on Clinton Street, Iowa City and the hustle and bustle of the festivities happening at the annual Iowa Arts Festival. Artists, bands and local food vendors along with thousands of attendees descend on this area every summer and as you can imagine, this state of the art hotel was jammed packed with guests.

Our bed and it’s linens were very fresh and comfortable. A very friendly housekeeping staff asked if we needed anything as we passed them all weekend. Might as well go for an extra pillow when you get a helpful greeting from someone like that. So, we made that happen! And you know what else? I’m a big water pressure kinda guy and I’m telling that it was just fine in the shower here. No pics so trust me on this one.

Vue Rooftop is where you’re going to see Iowa City from the sky and at an angle you haven’t experienced yet!

The night was lively, and we had plenty to keep us entertained during our stay here. The Vue rooftop bar has quickly become one of the areas most talked about and frequented establishments for a unique experience you’re going to find in Downtown Iowa City. It doesn’t take long to get people talking when you have ample amounts of outdoor seating, fire pits, fresh air, a full bar and live music. The bartenders here had their skills in high gear on this night and we never went empty handed.

You’ve seen the top and some of the middle. Now let’s see the bottom floors. Because this is where you’re getting your daily workout ritual completed along with a splash or two in the pool and a long relaxing soak in that jacuzzi.

There’s plenty of items to grab in the snack area for your room and on the go. I know I said that the rooms were comfortable, but don’t pass up a quick break in the lobby. That’s some classy furniture!

My favorite part of our stay was not only the breakfast, but the staff taking care of it and keeping the food loaded and hot in the serving tables. The Hilton Garden offers a few choices from someone needing a lite nibble and a beverage to the all you can early morning warrior. I went warrior with the buffet. Fresh is the key word here because it was everywhere. Fluffy scrambled eggs, warm biscuits with rich country gravy, sizzling sausage patties and plenty of bacon coming your way. Bread popping out of the toasters and waffles filling up your entire plate.

I think it’s safe to say that the Hilton Garden Inn knows how to become an immediate anchor to Downtown Iowa City. This area is evolving and you’re going to want to see it. Better get your room booked and get down here……..NOW!

Thank you to Neal Roth and the entire crew at the Hilton Garden Inn. We checked in early evening and from the moment we were greeted to to the last bite of yogurt from the breakfast bar in the morning, we were treated with an incredible guest experience. The entire building from the ground floor to the rooftop will be a beautiful part of Iowa City for decades!
