Our awesome and helpful server, Tiffany, was ecstatic to tell us about the menu and issued a warning about the fish sandwich that Gigi was eyeballing. Tiffany said……”Um..that’s huge. I’m just saying.” Gigi is 7 going on whatever. Gigi ordered the fish sandwich.

Starboard side of the frame is Kinnicks legendary wicked fish sandwich. It actually started making a move on other food just after we took the pic. Alas, the chicken livers, cheese soup, patty melt, and basket o' peanuts didn't have a chance against Team Goodvin.

Alas, the chicken livers, cheese soup, patty melt, and basket o’ peanuts didn’t have a chance against Team Goodvin. And Gigi successfully supported the domestic seafood industry too.

Halftime came and we decided to walk the town and see what Montose had to offer while we digested the healthy portions of food we just devoured. We sniffed out some meat cutters, history, and a few of the niches that make Montrose the true scenic river town it claims to be.

Ok you've had enough time.....My tuuuuuuuuuuurn! That's what Charlie and Gigi said I sounded like. Just look at the river and be grateful. Is what my Mom said. I'm the one who drove by the way.

What has Iowa contributed in the world of sports history? Cauliflower ear, gridiron greats, world renouned track and field champs, and some of the most important baseball personalities the game has ever seen. Montrose lays claim to this one.

I know the story. It’s been weeks since everyone at your tailgater has been impressed by what you brought. It’s not that we don’t appreciate the effort, but the gelatin mold that has canned fruit cocktail and mini marshmallows swimming in the center is what we expect at tomorrow’s church potluck. We….need….MEAT!!! Bring a cooler to Montrose and prepare to load up with some of the freshest cuts from one of the most well-known local butchers.

Who wants a hug? I think this meat case loaded with primo hand cut Iowa slaughter on display would like one.

Just one of many varieties of local sausage you can find at Dave’s. How’s this sound…..Come to the “wurst” party ever! Montrose can make that happen.

Here’s another idea. Let your buddies know that you’re getting away for the day. Don’t worry. Your favorite haunt or hangout will be there and manage without you. Do something very familiar while breaking away from your comfort zone. The Iowa weather is still ideal for some great traveling experiences so let’s take in the big game with a new crowd and take the rut out of your routine. Tiffany and the rest of the crew have the perfect game plan on tap for any football fan in the powerhouse called Montrose!
