Oyster O’clock, Y’all!: Seafood All Day Long in Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, Alabama

*We made it back to the beautiful Gulf Coast, and we’re excited to have Visit Alabama’s Beaches hosting our gallivant again! This is just part one of our recent trip to Bama so if you crave seafood, then prepare to get really hungry and then make sure to book your own gallivant to this wonderful beach community. Some of the meals, lodging and products were complimentary. The views expressed in this blog post are of our own. Now, let’s gallivant!

Well, well, well…..Look who started direct flights from Des Moines, Iowa to Gulf Shores, Alabama! This Allegiant flight is less than two hours and you’re going to love how convenient it is! That’s how we got to the beach and you can too! (I’ll work on a better catch phraise in the next blog post)

Gulf Shores & Orange Beach, Alabama: Baldwin County

We love pork, beef, chicken, SPAM, and other meaty delights. However, when in Rome….I mean on Alabama’s coastline, seafood is king. And let me tell’ya, Gallivant Nation……We freakin’ love seafood! This vibrant white sand commuity is one of our nation’s hotspots for gourmet seafood, traditional comfort food delights, twists on Cajun goodness, and some of the best cooking in America. And I genuinely mean that. Time to tartar this gallivant up, prepare the horseradish, ready the cocktail sauce and start squeezing the lemons. It’s gonna get delicious!

Acme Oyster House-Gulf Shores

There is no way I’m going to take a pass on oysters when said shellfish is in the name. Acme Oyster House has been a staple when it comes to great seafood for many years and we nearly did a Forrest Gump sprint to this place when our plane touched down on the Gulf Shores-International tarmac. Our first meal of the trip was a winner and it started with this plate of chargrilled oysters!
Under that rich and creamy sauce is the fish so nice they named it twice. Blackened Mahi Mahi with buttery mixed veggies and yella rice. Headlining this meal is Acme’s Pontchartrain sauce filled with crab and shrimp. Seafood topped with seafood is an amazing concept!

Flora-Bama Lounge & Package-Orange Beach/Perdido Key

One of the most iconic establishments of its kind in the South! The Flora-Bama is positioned directly on the Florida-Alabama statelines which means you can enjoy your meal and drinks in two cities and two states all day and night. We ordered this oyster sampler while watching college football on the big screen. You think it’s fun watching the big game in your local tavern? Wait until you park your keaster at the Flora-Bama and watch the pigskin on the beach!

Doc’s Seafood Shack & Oyster Bar-Orange Beach

The motto at Doc’s is “The best fried shrimp in the entire civilized world”. I have no doubt that the local shrimp is on point here but we were on an oyster crawl! And we wanted onion rings too! We’ll be back for the fried shrimp because those onion rings were fantastic and the oysters were fresh as can be.

De Soto’s Seafood Kitchen-Gulf Shores

I’ve always said if a crawfish and a shrimp were to have a baby, you’d get the Royal Red! This is a seafood meal you really need to experience when you get Alabama’s beaches. Put the tail in the air, tear off the head, slurp up the innards from the head then get into the sweat Royal Red meat! De Soto’s steamed up some of the best we’ve ever had in Bama!

Tacky Jack’s-Gulf Shores

Baked oysters with plenty of Parmesan cheese crusted around that tasty bite of the Gulf. Tacky Jack’s does a great job with families of all ages vacationing to the area while keeping up with the bread and butter that keeps folks coming back for more. And I’m talkin’ fresh seafood cookin’!

OSO at Bear Point Harbor-Orange Beach

That my friends… is what I’m talking about when I imagine oysters on the half shell. OSO is tucked away within an Orange Beach neighborhood on Bear Point Harbor with Arnica Bay’s sunset awaiting your evening.
The combo is a force at OSO! Blackened Red Snapper with Grilled Grouper..Bless this plate over and over again!

Where is this breakfast meal????????

Get your seafood all day long in Gulf Shores/Orange Beach and that’s including breakfast! Find out where we had that mouthwatering eggy platter at a later date. I just hope the Sunliner Diner will be surprised!…….OOPS!
