There’s a lot to love, when it comes to our gallivants, and, speaking of love, our summer trip to Denison gave me another opportunity to surprise my wife with yet another proposal. The breeze was slight, the temp was a perfect 80 with hardly any clouds in the giant blue sky and there was nothing but green surrounding us for miles and miles. The plush summers in Western Iowa can show you a region that can bring you back season after season.
The Junkery is where I found the necklace to present to my wife while here in Denison and they had a huge selection of just about anything antique, vintage, and retro. This store is a weekend trip all to itself because it’s impossible to absorb it all in just one visit.
Yellow Smoke Park is one of Iowa’s most beautiful county parks and provides plenty of possibilities for outdoor recreation. It sits in Crawford County valley and has the look of a Midwestern countryside oasis with its lake, waterways, paths, a beautiful beach, and a skyline that crashes into the treeline that surrounds you the entire time.
The time came on the beautiful wooden walking bridge, at Yellow Smoke, and out came the question… “Monie, would you marry me again?” I’ve been able to surprise her every time and she gave said “yes” once again. Which is good thing because our Leah, who’s always in on the plan, takes the pictures and had the camera ready to go. I love my family and especially my wife. The way she looks at me, in the bottom picture, is all I need from her. Thanks for gallivanting, Monie. You’re the best thing in my life just before a perfectly assembled platter of assorted sliced cheeses.
