Sioux City, IA: Woodbury County
Thousands of kickstands are now holding up thousands of bicycles while thousands of bikers are at ease in Sioux City. They embarked to the banks of the Missouri River where they will be ready to launch RAGBRAI 2015. (Registers-Annual-Great-Bike-Ride-Across-Iowa) The ride is now just hours away and its army of loyalists, who have been looking forward to this day since their front tires descended onto the Guttenburg riverfront in 2014, are primed and ready for the Iowa road.
Sioux City has an incredible history and offers an Iowa experience that only be found in Siouxland. We had a whole list of restaurants, attractions and unique treasures we wanted to explore in one of Iowa’s most historic areas. But, we decided to do all our scouting online and prep for a very important event coming up. Something we weren’t sure we’d ever get a chance to do. You see, scouting RAGBRAI has been great……….OK I’m carrying on. The Iowa Gallivant will be joining RAGBRAI!!!! Team Goodvin on the whole route and revisiting all the amazing communities that we’ve scouted since early February!
We would like to thank all of you that we’ve met on this amazing scouting trip. The locals, leaders, and hard workers of Iowa have been prepping for this week since the moment the host cities were announced in January. And a huge thanks to all of you that have assisted us with our schedules, plans, exploring and overall gallivanting of RAGBRAI 2015. We’re talking about you, CVB’s, Chambers, and Developers! We’ve sipped some of Iowa’s greatest wines, spirits and craft beers. We’ve sought local legends and gastro-toured our way up and down their streets. We’ve hiked, tubed, swam, and discovered our way to a whole new respect and excitement for Iowa. North America’s greatest bike tour has found a 43-year home in our home state and the fever of it’s annual draw to Iowa is only growing. Sioux City, Storm Lake, Fort Dodge, Eldora, Cedar Falls, Hiawatha, Coralville and Davenport- we showcased the greatness of these areas and await to see what you have for all of my fellow RAGBRAI’ers. I can’t tell you how great it is to finally be able to say that. See you all this weekend in Sioux City!
Don’t pass up the chance to read parts 1 through 7 of our scouting RAGBRAI series!
